Year In Review: 2019-2020

JUNE

  • We packed, cleaned, painted, and moved our entire academy out of Hopkins in three weeks with no professional help
  • Volunteers (parents, staff, and community members) helped load 20 16-foot PODS, many in high heat or rain showers

JULY

  • We moved into our new school home in Edina
  • We walked in the Edina Fourth of July Parade and handed out thousands of pieces of candy and fliers
  • Our summer camps (Classical Enrichment & Kinder Camp) began, featuring Mad Science lessons, the Edina Police, Pros of the Rope, and more

AUGUST

  • We hosted a Summer Party with lawn games and popsicles — our first event at our new school home
  • We welcomed 9 incredible new teachers, including our first-ever full-time Art teacher, to our team with a week of Classical training
  • Open House night brought families in to meet teachers, gather information about the year, learn about extracurriculars, buy spirit wear, and more
  • Edina Creamery hosted a fundraiser evening and Agamim families kept a steady, long line going all night
  • Our wonderful team of staff returned for in-service time together, full of Classical thinking, team bonding, sunshine walks to 50th & France, and anticipation for the year to come
  • On August 27, 2019, we opened our doors at 5300 France Avenue South for our first day of Agamim’s fifth year of school

SEPTEMBER

  • We celebrated Constitution Day with Senator Melisa Franzen, Representative Heather Edelson, and Edina Mayor Jim Hovland speaking at our assembly
  • Edina Grill hosted our third-Tuesday fundraiser night
  • We fundraised $519.50 for the Whip Pediatric Cancer Foundation
  • Agamim was an Activity Sponsor at Open Streets Edina
  • Curriculum Night brought families in to hear from the Agamim faculty about what makes an Agamim classical education so special
  • We hosted a flu shot clinic to help keep ourselves, our school, and our community healthy
  • Edina Creamery hosted another fundraising night to support us
  • We announced and began planning for our 8th graders to take a capstone trip to Israel in February

OCTOBER

  • We celebrated our partnerships with parents/guardians at Fall Conferences
  • We hosted our first-ever Early Release day with an extended After Care program
  • Panera Bread hosted our third-Thursday fundraiser night
  • Pacer Puppets visited Kindergarten, First, and Second grade to educate our scholars on Diversity and Inclusion
  • Agamim’s authorizer, NEO, awarded us for our 2018-2019 standardized test scores exceeding the state in percent of students proficient in math and reading, and for EL growth

NOVEMBER

  • On Veterans Day, we held a Veterans’ Honor Ceremony and Pancake Breakfast for over 100 guests
  • Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade music students were the only choir invited to perform during the Minneapolis Veterans Home ceremony on Veterans Day, where they met MN Governor Tim Walz
  • Seventeen Veteran guests spoke to classes about their experiences, American values, and the importance of virtuous Americans
  • Ms. Morton traveled to Israel for a Hebrew/Israel Summit
  • On Giving Day, Agamim raised over $46,000 and completed the 5300 Campaign to raise $300,000 in six months
  • We celebrated the community’s generosity on Giving Day by hosting Movie Night with a potluck dinner
  • The Student Senate hosted a bake sale and fundraised over $400 for PE equipment
  • Chipotle hosted our third-Thursday fundraiser night
